If you are interested in applying for a student placement at Buoyancy or volunteering, this is what you need to know and do:
People may apply to come to Buoyancy to fulfil student placement requirements of educational institutions, to perform voluntary work with or without the involvement of Centrelink, or for other reasons. This is the process to be undertaken by all non-employees wishing to undertake activities at Buoyancy
- to participate at Buoyancy, you must have the ability to design your own projects, to work independently, to self-monitor, and to seek whatever supervision or support you need for yourself.
- you will be required to familiarize yourself with, and sign agreement to, the Buoyancy code of ethics.
- unless they are AOD counsellors and have Buoyancy’s agreement, students / volunteers will not be permitted to counsel clients of Buoyancy, or to interview clients of Buoyancy for research purposes.

Guidelines for negotiating an agreement:
These are the non-negotiable conditions and processes of applying for a placement at Buoyancy.
You are requested to:
1) Attend an initial session at 293 Punt Rd Richmond at 12.15pm any Thursday, to orient themselves to the service. Please inform us of your attendance at least one day in advance. Lunch will be provided.
2) Provide to info@buoyancy.org.au, within two weeks of attending Buoyancy, a one-page description detailing:
- the duration of the placement, including total hours, start and finish dates, and which days you wish to attend Buoyancy, or other locations.
and
- the appropriate project or activity that you propose. This may include orientating you to Buoyancy programs. The activity commencing is subject to agreement with Buoyancy.
